THE FOUNDATION IN REFUGEE CAMPS IN GREECE

Improving the emotional wellbeing, quality of life, access to education and health of underage refugees

In Greece, alongside various locally operating NGOs, the Barça Foundation implements programs aiming to improve the emotional wellbeing, quality of life, access to education and health of underage refugees and their families. The Foundation’s work with displaced people is based on its SportNet socio-educational and sporting methodology, in addition to collaborating with other activities on prevention and improvement in health, access to informal education, and workshops on personal development and environmental responsibilities.

The work is carried out in partnership with local Greek organisations Cheering and Organization Earth, two NGOs which operate at several refugee camps in and around Athens. At this moment in time, over 650 children and adolescents living in various camps (Malakasa, Schisto Korinthos and Ritsona) or in the Greek capital itself are benefitting from the project. The FC Barcelona Foundation has been working since 2017 at a host of camps both in mainland Greece and on the island of Lesbos.
