Sport for protection:

A project to prevent and respond to the challenge of protecting children and asylum seekers in Malaysia

The project will provide more refugee and asylum-seeking children and young people with the relevant basic skills and understanding to respond to the protection challenges faced by their families and communities in Malaysia. As refugees and asylum seekers have no legal status in Malaysia they are often unaware of how to exercise their rights, particularly with regard to protection issues, such as child protection and gender-based violence. This project will ensure that over 1,500 refugee and asylum-seeking children and young people learn to prevent and respond to these concerns and, in the process, boost their self-competence, self-confidence and psychosocial wellbeing.
