BUILDING PROTECTIVE SPACES FOR CHILDREN

PROJECT WITH GRAN TIERRA AND THE NGO ‘WORLD VISION’

Making a difference for over 700 children in at-risk situations

The joint FC Barcelona Foundation and Gran Tierra Energy project, implemented by the NGO ‘World Vision’, aims to make a difference to over 700 children and adolescents in at-risk situations annually in the Colombian communities of Puerto Assís, Mocoa, Villa Garzón and Orito (Putumayo), and San Martín (Cesar), whose young people are affected by armed conflict, being surrounded by violence and high levels of social vulnerability.

This project is carried out in coordination with local authorities, education secretaries, educational institutions, community leaders and local social organisations. One of the goals is to instil competence training into these communities, where children and adolescents are directly involved. To get the project underway, two seminars have been given in which around 40 people, a mix of educators and community leaders, have been trained in how to carry out the Foundation’s SportNet socio-educational methodology in their educational institutions.

SAFEGUARDING TOOLS AND CAPABILITIES

Workshops to strengthen and increase children’s awareness in the face of all forms of violence

This project is also looking into carrying out workshops with children and adolescents regarding the promotion of protective spaces, conflict resolution and self-care; training mothers, fathers and those active in the community in World Vision’s Crianza Con Ternura (Parenting With Tenderness) model to strengthen childhood safeguarding abilities; provide mental and psychosocial support for children and their families affected by violence of any kind; create action protocols to report cases of violence and offer support; and carry out awareness and communication campaigns aimed at preventing all forms of violence.
