The FC Barcelona Foundation organized a solidarity initiative this Thursday, July 8, at the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital (Can Ruti), in collaboration with urban artist TV Boy and children currently receiving treatment at the hospital. The activity is part of the Blaugrana Bracelets program, which promotes initiatives aimed at improving the emotional well-being of hospitalized children.
The initiative involved the creation of a mural on one of the hospital’s exterior walls, where TV Boy, together with the participating children, painted various figures and messages. The children played a leading role in the creative process, helping the artist complete the artwork and becoming an active part of the final result. The artist later painted a girl and a boy creating a heart in FC Barcelona’s blaugrana colors, a symbol of hope and resilience for children facing serious illnesses, as well as a representation of the Club’s values.
Emotional well-being of children
Dr. Marta Segú, General Director of the FC Barcelona Foundation, accompanied the artist—who is an ambassador of the Blaugrana Bracelets program—and highlighted that the initiative “aims to provide a positive and transformative experience for adolescents undergoing treatment, using urban art as a tool for emotional expression, encouraging peer connection, and giving young patients an active role within the hospital environment. The Barça Foundation works to improve the emotional well-being of children and young people through initiatives like this one, allowing them to forget about their illness for a moment and enjoy a unique experience.”
TV Boy stated: “I deeply believe in art as a tool capable of inspiring people, conveying hope, and generating a positive impact. That is why it is a true honor to collaborate with the FC Barcelona Foundation to bring art into a children’s hospital and offer children and their families a moment of excitement, color, and joy. I hope this artwork accompanies them and conveys a message of strength, optimism, and hope. I also hope it reflects the values of solidarity, empathy, and commitment that we share, and serves as a reminder that art has the power to illuminate even the most difficult moments, transforming them into spaces of emotion, inspiration, and confidence in the future.”
Maria Méndez, Head of the Pediatrics Department at Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital, also emphasized: “Initiatives like this help humanize the hospital environment and provide children and adolescents with moments of excitement, participation, and creative expression. These activities have a very positive impact on their emotional well-being and help them face the treatment process with greater confidence and hope.”
Art and FC Barcelona
TV Boy, widely recognized for his urban artworks with strong social and media impact, has previously collaborated with Can Ruti Hospital and is the author of several artistic interventions linked to FC Barcelona. Among his most notable works are portrayals of iconic Club figures such as Alexia Putellas and Lamine Yamal, which have attracted significant attention both locally and internationally.
With this new initiative, the Barça Foundation reaffirms its commitment to the emotional well-being of hospitalized children and to the humanization of healthcare spaces through projects that bring together sport, art, and solidarity.
