This Monday marks the opening of the “Tant se val d’on venim” ("No matter where we’re from”) exhibition in the main lobby of the University of Barcelona’s historic building, a collection of 50 photos that highlight FC Barcelona's social commitment and the charitable work carried out by its Foundation. The exhibition forms part of the Barça Foundation Week at the University of Barcelona (UB), which this year is celebrating its 575th anniversary.

“Tant se val d’on venim” is an iconic line from the FC Barcelona anthem that symbolises the fraternity and shared identity of its fans, regardless of where they come from. The exhibition is also proof that the spirit of the Blaugrana family knows no borders or ethnic boundaries, a sentiment reflected in the charitable work carried out by the Barça Foundation, which uses sport and the power of Barça as tools to improve the lives of children and young people around the world.

The exhibition at the UB coincides with International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on 21 March. In this context, former France and FC Barcelona player and human rights activist Lilian Thuram will give a talk in the UB’s Aula Magna auditorium on Thursday 19 March. The Barça Foundation has long collaborated with the Fondation Lilian Thuram – Éducation contre le racisme, which he founded while playing for the Azulgrana club. The former French international and World Cup winner is one of the world’s most authoritative and respected voices in denouncing racial discrimination, a phenomenon that is sadly ever more present in sport in general and football in particular.

The event, attended by the UB rector, Joan Guàrdia, FC Barcelona President, Rafael Yuste, and the Director General of FC Barcelona Foundation, Dr Marta Segú, will also mark the launch of FC Barcelona and the Barça Foundation’s anti-racism campaign, developed in collaboration with men’s and women’s first-team players Eric García, Gerard Martín, Alejandro Balde, Marta Torrejón, Esmee Brugts and Caroline Graham Hansen.

The Foundation: Barça's charitable arm

“Tant se val d’on venim” is a collection of some 50 photographs showcasing the work carried out in various countries around the world over recent decades by FC Barcelona’s charitable arm, the Barça Foundation. The images are also testament to the Club's international reach and influence, and to the magical power of sport, and football in particular, as a universal language that changes lives and embodies its "More than a club" philosophy worldwide.

The exhibition features photographs taken by a number of audiovisual professionals who have visited Foundation projects around the world, notable among which is the work of Catalan photojournalist, Kim Manresa.
