When football and music triumph
Beyond the football spectacle that the Clásico on May 10 left in the retinas of the Barça fans, football and music triumphed like never before and left images and milestones for the memory. The alliance between FC Barcelona and Spotify experienced one of its most culminating moments, turning into reality the fact that football and music form a powerful and unstoppable duo. All of this happened at the hands of the American singer Travis Scott, star of the Clásico kit, with the brand ‘Cactus Jack’, and with his visit to Barcelona to offer an exclusive concert and attend the Olympic Stadium to enjoy the Clásico.
Unprecedented success of clothing collections
As is usual in the classics, FC Barcelona and Spotify put on sale several clothing collections around the chosen artist. In this case, both the first and second kits - for the first time -, as well as the merchandise line with sweatshirts and t-shirts, sold out faster than ever. To the point that on Saturday, May 10, at mid-morning, all the units of these clothing lines were sold out in all FC Barcelona sales channels (e-commerce and Stores). A clear example of the immense interest they aroused was the very long queue of people waiting for the Barça Botiga de Spotify to open, some of whom spent the night in the street. To create a community and reach out to content creators, FC Barcelona also promoted a dinner with influencers that served to present them, exclusively, the Travis Scott t-shirt for the Classic. An event that generated a lot of valuable impact on social networks and lifestyle media.
Exclusive concert with Spotify
Travis Scott arrived in Barcelona on Friday, May 9th in the afternoon, as he was giving a private concert on Saturday, May 10th at the Les Tres Xemeneies venue in Sant Adrià de Besós. It was the first time that the artist featured on the Clássic shirt logo had given a concert in the city to coincide with the match. A show that was also the American's first show in Barcelona and was an unforgettable gift for the artist's thousand fans -the most loyal- who were invited exclusively by Spotify. The concert
was also a meeting point for Barcelona fans. In addition to Jules Kounde - who was injured -, former Barça players Thierry Henry, Ronaldinho, Patrick Kluivert, Edgar Davids, Carles Puyol and Gerard Piqué were also present, as well as other figures from the artistic world, including actor and former American football player Terry Crews.
A passionate supporter in Montjuïc
On Sunday 11th, the day of the Clásico, the first team bus, vinyled for the occasion with Travis Scott's logo, transported the first team squad to the Olympic Stadium. A day earlier, the vehicle had driven around the city immortalizing the image of Cactus Jack next to iconic spaces and buildings, such as the Torre Glòries, the Columbus statue or the Barceloneta, with the W hotel in the background. During the match, Travis Scott was one of the most fervent fans in the stands of the Olympic Stadium. The videos and images of his celebrations as a spectator of Barça's brilliant victory over Madrid went viral on social media, demonstrating his passion for football and the Blaugrana colours. Scott met with president Joan Laporta in the Llotja and with players such as Lamine Yamal on the pitch after the match, and he was even seen wearing a Blaugrana Bracelet from the FC Barcelona Foundation's charity project.
This new activation by Barça and Spotify has once again gone around the world and has consolidated a partnership that has shaken up the world of sports sponsorship. It has been shown that the union between football and music is not only a perfect loudspeaker for artists, but also allows them to reach new audiences attracted by this peculiar relationship between goals and scores.
