New campaign 'Som el que mengem'

Club President Sandro Rosell presented the latest stage of the FC Barcelona Foundation campaign ‘Som el que mengem’ , which is entering into its third year. The campaign is aimed at promoting healthy eating habits amongst young people and has recruited the wll known Catalan chef Carme Ruscalleda and the first team playersCesc Fàbregas and Marc Bartra. All three of them take part in the latest advert for the campaign with the slogan: "Cook well, eat healthy and play better!". The idea of this latest phase is to introduce youngsters to cooking, as a first step to a balanced diet.
The presentation was held at the Mercat de la Concepció in Barcelona, where President Rosell was accompanied by Ramon Pont, first Vice-President of the Fundació FC Barcelona, the chef Carme Ruscalleda, Josep Maria Pelegrí, the minister for Agricultura of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Raimond Blasi, responsible for Comerce, Consumerism and Markets of the Ajuntament de Barcelona and president of the Institut Municipal de Mercats de Barcelona, Elisa Duran, the assistant director general of the Fundació ‘La Caixa’, as well as representatives of the various organisations who are collaborating in the project.
During the presentacion, President Rosell explained: "the campaign is growing strong. the Mediterranean diet is what we use in the Masia and what our stars eat - that explains why we apply these ideas in projects like this". The well-known Catalan chef Carme Ruscalleda told the people at the event: “there are children who don't eat fruit or salads. This modern malady should have no place in our country. It's fantastic that an organisation like the Fundació FC Barcelona is aware of that".
The campaign has also launched a new interactive web with videos and interactive content for children and youngsters (www.somelquemengemfcb.cat). The first team players are the stars of the site and they guide the user through information about fruit, vegetables and pulses. Users can also win posters and signed first team shirts in the ‘El cuiner del Barça’ competition. To further encourage children to get involved, parents can receive certificates signed by the players, congratulating them for having eaten healthy food.
Participacion in fairs and congresses
During this new stage, The Department of Agriculture of the Generalitat de Catalunya will be collaborating with the campaign and as a result, the campaign will feature in fairs and congresses in the sector, including the "Fruit in Schools" project and another to promote an educational campaign in primary and secondary school sthrough the city's markets.
Three years of ‘Som el que mengem’
‘Som el que mengem’ is a campaign run by the Club's Fundació in collaboration with the Fundació Alicía, the Fundació SHE (Science, Health and Education), the Obra Social ‘La Caixa’, the Institut de Mercats de Barcelona, the Fundació Dieta Mediterrània, the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Ajuntament de Barcelona.
