The FC Barcelona Foundation and the Neymar Jr. Project Institute – a social entity in Brazil promoted by Neymar - have signed an agreement to work together in the implementation of projects that promote sport as a tool for social integration for young people. The agreement will benefit children who form part of the Institute, and in South American countries where the Barcelona Foundation is present.

The Neymar Jr. Project Institute is an 8,400m2 education complex, under construction, that will have classrooms, playing fields, and a swimming pool, and will provide sporting activities for underprivileged children in Praia Grande. The project will also promote academic performance of its 2,500 students, providing extra classes and other educational activities.

‘FutbolNet’, first project to be undertaken

One of the main objectives of this agreement, in addition to promoting sport, is to develop synergies between the projects of both organisations. This alliance will be launched with the implementation of the FC Barcelona Foundation project 'FutbolNet' in football sessions at the Institute, which is in final stages of construction in Praia Grande, Sao Paulo, Brazil. The FC Barcelona Foundation will invest in the construction of the Institute and the purchase of sports equipment which will be used by the beneficiaries, and their families, of Neymar’s social organisation.

Rosell: “Neymar represents Barça’s values”

For Neymar da Silva Santos, Neymar Jr’s Father and Vice President of the Neymar Jr. Project Institute, the agreement is an example of the importance of the commitment to Praia Grande. "We are very proud of the agreement with the FC Barcelona Foundation. The important thing here is to help these families and provide a better future for their children through sport. My son never had anything like this. I really hope this is just the beginning of a something very successful".

FC Barcelona President, Sandro Rosell, stated that it is an honour for the Club and the FCB Foundation to be able to participate and contribute to the Neymar family dream through an agreement that goes beyond investment in the project. "On behalf of the FC Barcelona Foundation we are proud of the collaboration agreement with the Neymar Project Institute. We will work very hard to convey the Barça values to Brazilian children, the same values that Neymar represents, both on and off the Field".

Social implication of the Brazilian superstar

The Barça striker will be involved in various activities that the 2 entities will put in place, within the framework of the agreement, both in Brazil and in other South American countries. The agreement is valid until the end of season 2017/18, coinciding with Neymar Jr’s contract terms with Barça, although it is also looking beyond Neymar’s contractual obligations with the Club.
