On the Day of Sant Jordi, the FC Barcelona Foundation, with the goal of making the day more enjoyable for children in hospital, handed out copies of La samarreta màgica (The magical jersey) in pediatric wards of eight local hospitals.
The hospitals the received copies of the book are: Hospital de Barcelona, Hospital de Nen de Barcelona, Hospital Sant Pau, Hospital del Mar, Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, Hospital de la Vall d’Hebron, Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol and Hospital Parc Taulí de Sabadell.
Prologues from President Sandro Rosell and Víctor Valdés
The story, which was also handed out this Saturday at the Camp Nou, is authored by Víctor Panicello. The book recounts the story of Albert, an eight-year-old boy that’s in hospital for treatment. Despite Albert’s situation, his hospital stay is special and magical thanks to his love for Barça.
This edition of the story is meant to encourage the reading of Catalan literature among the youngest Culés. The initiative is sponsored by the FCBarcelona Foundation, the Leo Messi Foundation and the Ànima Foundation in collaboration with the Institute of Catalan Literature. The story features prologues by FC Barcelona President, SandroRosell, and the first team’s keeper VíctorValdés. The book is illustrated by JuliaMuñoz.
