Promoting the social inclusion of children and young people with disabilities in Japan
Sports to foster a more inclusive society
Since 2018, the Barça Foundation, with the support of Konami, has been running a project in Japan with different sports and charity organizations to help create a more egalitarian and inclusive society. Through a strategy involving the transfer of the SportNet methodology, local instructors and coaches are supported as agents of social change, focusing on sport as a tool for the inclusion of people with functional diversity. The project involves sports associations belonging to the Japanese Inclusive Football Federation and social organizations that work with children with functional diversity.
The project encourages the participation of girls and boys under equal terms, regardless of their individual characteristics and abilities, seeking to create fully inclusive spaces for people with or without functional diversity.
