The FC Barcelona Foundation celebrates the Day of Sant Jordi with children in local hospitals

The FC Barcelona Foundation hands out copies of ‘La samarreta màgica’ (The magical jersey) in pediatric wards of eight local hospitals on the Day of Sant Jordi

On the Day of Sant Jordi, the FC Barcelona Foundation, with the goal of making the day more enjoyable for children in hospital, handed out copies of La samarreta màgica (The magical jersey) in pediatric wards of eight local hospitals.

The hospitals the received copies of the book are: Hospital de Barcelona, Hospital de Nen de Barcelona, Hospital Sant Pau, Hospital del Mar, Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, Hospital de la Vall d’Hebron, Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol and Hospital Parc Taulí de Sabadell.

The story, which was also handed out this Saturday at the Camp Nou, is authored by Víctor Panicello. The book recounts the story of Albert, an eight-year-old boy that’s in hospital for treatment. Despite Albert’s situation, his hospital stay is special and magical thanks to his love for Barça.

This edition of the story is meant to encourage the reading of Catalan literature among the youngest Culés. The initiative is sponsored by the FC Barcelona Foundation, the Leo Messi Foundation and the Ànima Foundation in collaboration with the Institute of Catalan Literature. The story features prologues by FC Barcelona President, Sandro Rosell, and the first team’s keeper Víctor Valdés. The book is illustrated by Julia Muñoz.
