Presentation of the Forum Foundation and the first debate

The president of the advisory council, Jaume Llauradó, and the vice-president of the Foundation, Ramon Pont, have outlined the objectives of the project

The Forum Foundation was presented this Wednesday in the Ricard Maxenchs Press Room in the Camp Nou. The aim of the project is to promote reflexion and dialogue and organise talks and debates on cultural and sporting issues related directly or indirectly to the Club. The Forum was presented by the president of the advisory council, Jaume Llauradó, and the first vice-president of the Foundation, Ramon Pont.

Llauradó stressed that the aim of the Forum is to “foster the Barça spirit and debate the most important topics” and he insisted that the advisory council will act with “complete independence”. For his part, Pont said that the initiative is “an exchange of impressions that strengthens the Club in an important way”.

First debate: 16th October

This projects aims to promote support for FC Barcelona and by encouraging sporting and ideological dialogue. The first session of the Forum Foundation will take place on 16th October at 6.45 pm in the Paris Room under the title “Where is football going? Taking part in the debate will be Sandro Rosell, president of FC Barcelona, Albert Baronet, director of Sports Marketing of Nike, Josep Maria Gay de Liébana, lecturer in financial economics at the University of Barcelona, Thomas Kurtz, ex-director of competitions of UEFA, and Jaume Roures, founder of Mediapro. The debate will be chaired by Màrius Carol, director of communication of the Godó Group, and will be broadcast live by Barça TV and Esport3.

Structure of the Forum Foundation

The Forum answers to the Foundation del FC Barcelona in all areas, with an advisory board made up of people of recognised prestige from the world of culture and sport, representative of the Club and of Catalan society. The advisory council is presided by Jaume Llauradó, who has wide management experience in the world of sport. He has been vice-president of FC Barcelona, member of the Barça Veterans Foundation, patron of the FC Barcelona Foundation, president of CD Hispano-Francès, member of the Governing Board and Treasurer of the Barça Veterans Association and one of the driving forces behind Planet Futbol and the Forum Samitier, which organised debates and dinners from 1990 to 2009.

The advisory council is made up of Ramon Alfonseda (president Agrupació Barça Jugadors), Assylbek Karibayev (president Petrokazakhstan Oil Products), Carles Barnils (Patron Foundation FC Barcelona), Isabel Bosch (journalist), Màrius Carol (director of communication of the Godó Group), Josep M. Coronas (lawyer), Ramon Cugat (Hospital Quirón BCN – Fundación García Cugat), Helena Garcia Melero (journalist), Juan Carlos García Valdecasas (Professor of Surgery), Agustín Gras (president Natural Electric), Josep Niubó (magistrate), Vicenç Villatoro (writer) and Jordi Llauradó (entrepreneur / secretary Forum advisory council).

Speakers and topics

There will be a wide range of speakers including celebrities from the world of sport. The topics for debate will be based around Barça and the values of the Club, and will cover sports, television, social and organisational themes. Talks, exhibitions and publications will also be organised in parallel with the debates.

Locations and audience

These regular events will be held, mainly, in the Paris Room of FC Barcelona, although the Forum will also be open to events on the road.

The idea is that the Forum will be open to all Barça supporters who wish to attend, but due to the limit imposed by the capacity of the Paris Room, Barça members will have priority. When the new Paris Room, with room for 600 people, is finished, attendance criteria may be opened up.
