On Wednesday night the FC Barcelona Foundation received one of the Diplomas of Honour given out by the Mediterranean Diet Foundation during Edition XI of the Barcelona International Congress on Mediterranean Diet - which took place in the International Hall of Food and Drink.
The award highlights FC Barcelona Foundation’s “We are what we eat” campaign and its “valuable contribution of raising awareness for healthy eating habits.” The campaign was put into action in the last semester of 2011 with the objective of increasing research around and raising awareness for the benefits of the Mediterranean diet. The accolade was received by Ramon Pont, first vice president of the FC Barcelona Foundation, during an event held at the Saló Cent at Barcelona's City Hall. Other entities were also awarded for raising awareness and promoting better eating habits.
The campaign ‘We are what we eat,” which was aimed at children and youngsters, raised awareness about the benefits of healthy eating habits through promoting a nutritional diet and participating in athletic events as seen in the Barça’s first team, La Masia and retired footballers.
